Marouane Fellaini has enjoyed a rather strange career at Manchester United.

Having been Everton's star man, he joined David Moyes at Old Trafford in the summer of 2013 for a fee of £28m, after a drawn-out affair which saw him eventually hand in a transfer request to force the move through.

Fellaini became the target of the fans' frustrations in his debut campaign, failing to score in 21 appearances as they slumped to a 7th placed finish, with Moyes being given his marching orders.

Things have picked up since then though, and he has had a much bigger role under José Mourinho, though he has struggled with injuries this term.

The 30-year-old made 28 appearances in the league in the 2016/17 season under the Portuguese, which is his most in any season since moving up the M62 half a decade ago.

However, he has appeared to be moving ever closer to the exit door at United for some time now, as he has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract.

Fellaini will be a free agent this summer if he doesn't agree fresh terms, and he has a number of suitors across Europe.

The Red Devils have offered him another deal, though AC Milan are also reported to have lodged a bid to his representatives, with the Italians far more likely to offer him a lucrative deal.

According to the Times, Fellaini has finally made his mind up about where his destination will be once the World Cup is over.

The newspaper have reported that it is likely that he will turn down any offers from United, and will seek pastures new.

Supposedly, Fellaini wants a contract worth at least £100,000 a week, which Mourinho's side are understandably reluctant to give him.

They've offered their midfielder a one-year contract, with the option of a further season, though that can only be triggered by the club.

The former Standard Liege man also requires more regular first-team action, particularly as he's reaching the final years of his career.

Fellaini certainly has the quality to still be a key player for a lot of good teams, and with United looking to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk he would fall even further down the pecking order.

It does seem as though a parting of ways would be the best outcome for both sides.

Therefore, we may well have seen Fellaini play his last game in the Premier League, but it's fair to say he's made his mark during his 10-year stay in the division.
