The Russia World Cup is less than two weeks away and the 32 national sides taking part are finalising their preparations. On Friday, the first set of friendlies took place as managers tried out their favoured line-ups and formations. And the fixture of the night was, without doubt, France vs Italy.Of course, while France are one of the favourites to triumph in Russia, Italy themselves failed to qualify. And that was reflected during the 90 minutes at the Allianz Riviera.Didier Deschamps’ side ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Samuel Umtiti, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele. With a front-three of Griezmann, Dembele and Kylian Mbappe, France will certainly fancy their chances of replicating their World Cup success from 20 years ago. However, if they are to go all the way, Paul Pogba will have a big role to play. The Manchester United midfielder didn’t have the greatest season under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford and will be hoping to prove a point on the world’s biggest stage. However, he didn’t quite do that against Italy. And one moment during the second-half summed up his performance.Pogba picked up the ball 40-yards out and decided to have a very ambitious shot. However, it fly miles wide and almost hit the corner flag.Take a look:

Wow. That was awful.

To make things worse for Pogba, when he was substituted in the 86th-minute, he was booed off the pitch.

Not exactly what you want just before the World Cup…

And when asked about his midfielder being booed after the match, Deschamps said: "I'm not going to dwell on that, but it would be better if it didn't happen."
