The sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) is a very interesting one, and sometimes fans witness some of the most amazing moments in sports' history. If you weren't watching the UFC Fight Pass Exclusive preliminary fights for UFC Fight Night 131 last night (Fri. June 1, 2018), then you missed out on one of the most spectacular knockouts in fighting history. It all happened in the first fight of the night, a flyweight fight between promotional newcomer Jose Torres and Jarred Brooks.

An Interesting Match-Up

Brooks came into the fight having lost the first ever bout of his MMA career. back an October. He dropped a split decision to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Fight Night 119.

Torres came into the fight undefeated in his fighting career, racking up seven-straight wins that featured a solid mix of knockouts, submissions and decisions.

After Brooks has seemingly taken control early on in the fight, likely winning the first round decisively and continuing to do so into the second round, he made a terrible mistake that would cost him the first loss of his career in which he was finished.

A Terrible Mistake

Brooks hoisted Torres up on his shoulders and delivered a huge takedown slam. The takedown was so big, however, that the impact knocked Brooks out when he hit his head on the mat.

The slam didn't do nearly as much damage to Torres, who quickly recognized Brooks had been rendered unconscious, followed up with ground-and-pound, and picked up the TKO win in his UFC debut.

It was an extremely embarrassing moment for Brooks after the fight, who was visibly disappointed moments after realizing what had happened.
