Ousmane Dembele showed exactly why he’s being courted by Liverpool in France’s 3-1 victory over Italy on Friday evening. The Barcelona forward produced an impressive performance which he capped off with a terrific goal as France’s preparations for the World Cup continued. It’s been reported by Mundo Deportivo that Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring Dembele to Anfield and is even ready to reach out to his mother in an attempt to make the deal happen.Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for Antoine Griezmann, which would impact Dembele’s playing time at the Camp Nou.So, for that reason, Liverpool may think they have a chance of signing Dembele, even if it’s just on a loan deal. But after watching him against Italy, you have to wonder why exactly Barcelona would want to sell.Indeed, Kylian Mbappe called Dembele “the best young footballer in the world” after the match.

Dembele shone v Italy

The two standout moments came in the second half.

Dembele showcased his pace and trickery with a magnificent run that came so close to a goal.

The 21-year-old would eventually get his goal, and it was well worth the wait.

He curled a wonderful effort into the top corner to make it 3-1 to France.

Impressive stuff.

Liverpool fans are now eager for the club to make a move for the former Borussia Dortmund star.

“@LFC please loan dembele... I don't care about anything I just want to see that boy in a reds shirt,” Twitter user @Its_osi said.

A front three of Dembele, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah would be simply breathtaking.

It would spell bad news for Sadio Mane, of course, but if Klopp believes that a deal can be reached then he has to go for it.

Dembele’s first season at the Camp Nou was spoiled by an injury that kept him sidelined for four months.

He made 23 appearances in total, scoring four goals for Ernesto Valverde’s side.

It’s hard to imagine Barcelona selling a player they spent £135.5 million to buy.

But if Griezmann does arrive from Atletico Madrid, a loan move could be seen as the best option for Dembele to continue his development.
