Unai Emery has turned his attentions to the summer transfer window after being named Arsenal manager this month.
The end of Arsene Wenger's 22-year reign at the club has brought about excitement at the Emirates Stadium and Gooners are keen to see who they'll buy this summer.
It's quickly becoming apparent that the defence is the club's priority, too.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu, Kalidou Koulibaly and Medhi Benatia, to name a few, have all been linked with moves to Arsenal this summer.
However, one of the most recent and exciting links has emanated from France this week.
Arsenal targeting Pavard
According to L'Equipe, Arsenal have made enquires about France international Benjamin Pavard.
The Freiburg defender is just 22-years-old and already has five caps worth of experience for Les Bleus, earning quite the name for himself back home.
And it seems Arsenal are interested in his signature again, having previously made contact earlier in the year through Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat.
Pavard impressed everyone vs Italy
The deal still has a long way to go and Borussia Dortmund are also in the running, but Arsenal fans had an opportunity to see him in action during France's 3-1 win over Italy on Friday night.
Samuel Umtiti, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele bagged the goals on the night, yet Pavard was attracting plenty of comments on Twitter, too, and they were overwhelmingly positive.
Check out the pick of the reaction below:
Here's Pavard's cross for the Umtiti goal:
Pavard has been praised for his passing ability all season long and that's a trait that will appeal to both Emery and Arsenal.
He was up to similar tricks last night, playing a key role in Umtiti's opener with a brilliant delivery into the box.
Pavard can create from deep
Take a look at this ridiculous pass of his that went viral just last week:
There can be little doubting that Arsenal need defensive reinforcements this summer and Pavard looks one of the finest options going.
The Frenchman often plays at centre-back but thoroughly impressed on the defensive flank, showing a versatility that could appeal to the Gunners.
The 22-year-old wields experience beyond his age and has all the qualities to make a seamless transition into Premier League football.
Emery will want to add an experienced defender into the equation, yet will also have an eye on the future.
Deals for Stephan Lichsteiner and Sokratis are looking increasingly likely, so there's cause for optimism at Arsenal next season.
A transfer budget of just £50 million doesn't look to be stopping Arsenal's new manager.
