The Undertaker was the unquestioned leader of the locker room for several years during his heyday in the WWE.

Taker is the epitome of an old school professional wrestler, who paid his dues, won several World Titles, is very much a company man, and does exactly what he's supposed to do in regards from instructions from Vince McMahon.

Its been quite some time since Undertaker has been a full time talent with the WWE, and since then the likes of John Cena and Roman Reigns have taken over the role of locker room leader.

While everyone still remains extremely fond of Undertaker backstage for everything he has done for the business, it's hard not to miss the good old days when The Deadman was running the show.

The Young Buck

One man who was present in the final years of Undertaker's full time status with WWE is former Intercontinental and NXT Champion Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre was making a steady rise as a singles talent in the final years of Undertaker's full time WWE run. Following a few years of a downward spiral creatively, McIntyre was subsequently released from WWE.

After reinventing himself on the indies, McIntyre signed with WWE again last year in April, won the NXT Title, and was recently called up to the main roster on Monday Night RAW alongside Dolph Ziggler.

The Scotsman recently did an interview with Planeta Wrestling and discussed working with Ziggler. During the interview, McIntyre talked about how some of the "fire" that used to be in the locker room in his early days is gone.

Learning From A Legend

He then explained how The Undertaker, even in the latter half of his career, still very much kept that fire burning (quotes via NoDQ.com):

"Dolph is somebody who I met as soon as I got here. We used to be on the road with The Undertaker, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Christian, and even Ric Flair.

"When I was 22, Ric Flair was on the roster and we have been on the road with these people for a long time.

"Undertaker, right up until his last day was working full time constantly, even when he was beat up, had fire in his eyes.

"If he couldn't walk, he was flying around and he was The Undertaker in every way. That was such an inspiration.

"Now, these guys haven't been on the road with those guys and hadn't had the chance to learn from these people.

"They may have met them once or twice but they haven't been on the road, and hadn't had the chance to look up to these guys the way I had looked up to The Undertaker.

"Now, we don't have that anymore, and I feel like I need to be that guy. I am only 32, and have been wrestling for 20 years.

"You may think that I am in my 40's because I have been around forever, but now I know that I need to be here and be a good example, not only for me but for the entire business."
