His past in the WWE is coming back to the light.

CM Punk, real name Phillip Brooks, was the biggest Superstar that WWE made in this current decade aside from former WWE Champion John Cena. The former WWE Superstar made a name for himself on the independent scene and while working in Ring of Honor.

When WWE finally decided to sign him, it was a big move for the company. The interesting part of Punk’s time with the sports entertainment company was that they were never behind him.

In fact, while he was in OVW, WWE management wanted then booker Paul Heyman to fire him, but the former owner of ECW denied their request.

Fast forward to when WWE decided to re-launch the ECW brand in 2006, Heyman, who oversaw creative alongside Vince McMahon decided to call him up to the main roster and use him.

Punk’s career took off, and he would later hold several championships including the WWE Title. However, after dealing with injuries and not wanting to wrestle anymore, Punk decided to walk out of the company on the Monday following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in 2014.

Since he departed from the WWE in 2014 after the Royal Rumble PPV (pay-per-view) event, fans have wanted to see Punk compete in the squared circle again. Instead, he took his talents to the world famous Octagon in the UFC.

However, he lost in his MMA debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September of 2016 by first round submission. There have been talks about Punk competing under the UFC banner again, but nothing has been made officials.

If you recall, Punk and Colt Cabana are both in the middle of a lawsuit with the WWE’s Doctor, Chris Amann. The reason for the lawsuit is due to the fact of Punk’s interview on Cabana’s podcast. In the past, Punk previously alleged that the WWE are bankrolling the lawsuit, simply to make him spend money.

The lawsuit has yet to go away and the latest development adding significant credibility to Punk’s claim, with the defendants being asked to pay $250,000 to begin “the process of discovery.” This would essentially involve looking through servers for old emails.

The trial is underway and on Friday, the former WWE Champion took the stand to testify in the lawsuit. During it, Punk opened up about his time with the sports entertainment company and addressed his claims against Amann, quotes courtesy of WrestleZone.

Some interesting news and notes have come from the trial including Punk feeling helpless during the 2014 Royal Rumble match where he suffered a concussion and noted that he left helpless once the doctor asked him “What do you want me to do?” when he told the doctor he was concussed.

He also noted that he said to the doctor that he was going to compose himself mid-match. This is when things got good as Punk started to cry and described his judgement in 2014 as “poor.”

This is when the judge gave Punk a break and told him to compose himself before the testimony continued.
