The Big Show is one of the biggest spectacles the professional wrestling world has ever seen, and that's a major part of why he has seen such a tremendous amount of success throughout his 20 years in the industry.

The World's Largest Athlete made his debut back in 1995 for World Championship Wrestling (WCW), who at the time was just as big, if not bigger, than WWE.

WCW and WWE competed for ratings each Monday Night as a part of The Monday Night Wars, and Big Show had a huge impact on WCW upon making his debut.

Controversial Debut

Upon hid debut in the promotion, Show was billed as the son of WWE Hall Of Famer Andre The Giant, as was billed as "The Giant."

He rose to the top of the WCW mountain quickly, defeating Hulk Hogan to win the WCW World Heavyweight Title. After a few years Show jumped ship to WWE, signing with the company in 1999 and never looking back since.

Recently, Show as a guest on WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast, The Steve Austin Show, in which he talked about his WCW beginnings.

Awkward

He offered up his thoughts on being billed as Andre The Giant's son, admitting he always thought it was very 'awkward,' and people to this day still believe he' actually Andre's son (quotes via Sportskeeda):

"It was awkward. It was very awkward because [Hulk] Hogan and [Eric] Bischoff came up with this idea and that's why Hogan latched onto me right away.

"That's why I got a career and opportunity. I'm thankful that he noticed me because, [Austin] know[s], back then, just going to a wrestling school or signing up on the internet wasn't an option.

"You had to know somebody to get trained! It was a very select business to get into back then and it wasn't quite as 'open door policy' as it is now.

"To go as the son of André, yeah, it gave me credibility with the fans.

"It was kind of a real crappy trick to play on the fans because everybody loved André so much and it cornered me into a position because I still have fans that come up to me to this day that tell me how much they loved my dad."
