Gareth Southgate’s England side played their penultimate friendly ahead of the Russia World Cup against Nigeria at Wembley.Southgate fielded a strong starting line-up against the Super Eagles - a line-up that could well face Tunisia in their opening World Cup match on June 18.The only realistic changes Southgate could make is the absent Jordan Henderson coming in for Eric Dier and Danny Rose in for Ashley Young. But those XI starting on Saturday evening would have been looking to impress in order to keep their shirts ahead of the tournament. And England started the match impressively. And they got their reward after just seven minutes when Gary Cahill powered in a header from Kieran Trippier’s corner.Just before half-time, captain Harry Kane made it 2-0 to round off a comfortable half for the home side. While England fans would have been pleased with the first 45 minutes, one man wasn’t quite as impressed.Step forward former Premier League striker Mido.He took to Twitter to reveal what he really thought of this England side.

He wrote: “One good thing about this England side that they r so bad that no one is expecting anything from them this Worldcup for the first time since 1966!! So maybe they r going to win it this time!! #ENGvNIG”

ENGLAND FANS REACTED ANGRILY

To say it didn’t go down well with England fans would be an understatement.

While England were good in the first-half, Nigeria looked much better after the break.

Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi pulled a goal back just minutes after the interval and the African nation threatened for an equaliser.

However, they couldn't quite manage it and England held on for the win.
