Allan McGregor was named as expected on Monday morning in the Scotland squad for next Wednesday's friendly against Sweden in Stockholm.
The Rangers keeper's lifetime ban for his part in the 'Boozegate' saga was overturned by manager Craig Levein when he took over from George Burley in December.
However, McGregor was left out of Levein's first squad to play the Czech Republic at Hampden in March after sustaining an eye injury in an incident in Glasgow with the former Dundee United manager admitting his decision was also, in part, due to the "circus" which would have surrounded the controversial keeper's return.
Levein is without his number one Craig Gordon who is out with a broken arm and the Rangers keeper is favourite to take over in goal.
The Scotland boss also recalled Stephen McManus after dropping the Middlesbrough stopper for the Czech Republic game.
Levein has called up four Middlesbrough players in total with Kevin Thomson, Barry Robson and Kris Boyd accompanying McManus up from the Riverside.
Rangers striker Kenny Miller was named despite shin splints hampering him during the Ibrox club's pre-season trip to Sydney and team-mate Kirk Broadfoot returns after fully recovering from the injury problems which blighted last season.
The Scotland boss will get one last chance to see his players in action in Sweden before the Euro 2012 qualifying double-header against Lithuania and Liechtenstein at the start of September.
Scotland's group also includes World Cup winners and European Champions Spain, and the Czech Republic.
