The transfer window is really hotting up for Liverpool.Fabinho has already been signed for around £44m, with Naby Keita set to arrive from RB Leipzig on July 1 to further bolster the midfield. And there is the prospect of Lyon's star Nabil Fekir also arriving to further enhance Jurgen Klopp's ever-improving squad. With those three additions, you have to feel the Reds will at least mount some sort of Premier League challenge in 2018/19.However, it's still unsure as to when Fekir will be snapped up by the club.Reports emerged from France late Saturday night that a deal was pretty much a formality, with one journalist from Canal+ stating that Fekir and his team were flying to Merseyside to begin his medical.

As such, Liverpool fans woke on Sunday morning very excited, tracking flights arriving to the city from Lyon and all sorts.

But, the lack of conformation from a reliable English source was cause for concern, but the silence was broken just after 11am by the Guardian's Ed Aarons.

The trusted journalist posted a tweet claiming that Liverpool have denied the reports coming out of France, with negotiations still very much in the early stages.

In fact, a fee for the player hasn't even been agreed yet, with Lyon holding out for around €70m.

Not the news Liverpool fans wanted to hear and it just goes to show that it's best to not get excited about transfer news until it arrives from a truly credible source,.

The number of conflicting Fekir reports that have been seen across Twitter ever since he was linked with Liverpool is pretty astounding, with varying fees and timescales for the deal to be completed popping up everywhere.

It is clear that Liverpool want to get the deal sorted as soon as possible, but signing a club's star man - one they're desperate to hang on to - is never going to be easy.
