Before halftime occurred in Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, LeBron James was involved in an incident with Draymond Green, resulting in the Cavs star picking up an injury.

Eye Poke

The Cavs icon was in possession of the ball and drove into the lane with just over a minute to go in the half for the score. The Warriors star was there to meet him and contest him for the shot, which he did, but he made contact with James' eye in the process.

Green tried to use his left hand to faceguard LeBron and in doing so poked the King in the eye. His eye had some blood in it later, and after the game, he admitted it was blurry. Things appeared to have improved before Game 2 however.

Speaking to the media yesterday, James said that while his eye doesn't look any better, doctors have told him that it is. He stated that he's taking all the medication he can for it, but there's not much more he can do about it.

Recovery

LeBron said, according to NBC Sports: “It’s better. It doesn’t look better, but the docs told me it’s better. It’s just going through a stage right now of recovering. It looks worse than it did during the game, but it feels better…

“I’m taking my medication that I’ve been given by the doctors. My eye drops and my antibiotic to help me with the recovery as fast as possible. But it’s an eye. I mean, it’s going to recover as fast as it can on its own. There is nothing you can do. I can’t ice it or anything like that, or if I get more sleep or whatever the case maybe. I’ll just have to naturally, organically let heal.

“Like I said, it’s been better. But it’s better today than it was in Game 1. Like I said, it doesn’t look better, but it feels a lot better.”

Despite the blurry eye, James finished Game 1 with 51 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, a steal, and a block while shooting 19-of-32 from the field. He will be hoping his eye is in good shape tonight for Game 2 so that he can repeat that kind of performance and get the Cavaliers back into the Finals series.
