Billy Joe Saunders has taken to Twitter to confirm that due to injury he will have to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Martin Murray. It is the second time that the bout has been called off, with an initial meeting – scheduled for April – postponed after Saunders suffered a hand injury during training.Fight fans have expressed their anger and frustration at the Hertfordshire-born middleweight as just hours prior to his announcement he tweeted his desire to touch gloves with Gennady Golovkin later this year. His scheduled opponent Martin Murray took to Instagram to vent his frustration: “Morning, just think it’s better to hear it from me rather than another b******* story, but the fight’s off with Billy Joe Saunders. He’s s**t out again.“The first time was his hand, now it’s his hamstring. We know that he’s just trying to make a big-money fight with Golovkin or Canelo and I’m too risky to fight. He just doesn’t want to fight me.“There’s nothing I can do, it’s the second time I’ve took myself away from my family, got my body in this condition ready to fight and get told at the last minute it’s cancelled.“Obviously gutted, but there’s nothing I can do. I just want to apologise to everybody who’s bought tickets, booked hotels, booked train fares and say thank you to everybody for their continued support and believing in me."Since the fight has been officially cancelled, Saunders has taken to Twitter to address his fans, but it's safe to say the boxing universe aren't very forgiving.

Billy Joe Saunders will be looking at a super-fight later this year with either GGG or Canelo after talks broke down over their proposed super-fight in September.

Golovkin is believed to be demanding improved terms from the split that he received during their controversial draw last September after Canelo’s recent failed drugs test.

BJS and his team will hope that talks between the two middleweight giants continue to stall and they can sneak in to secure the fight that ‘Superb’ Saunders has always wanted.
