It's no secret that some of the biggest WWE superstars of all time had some creative control over how their on-screen characters were booked compared to others.Fans will tell you that stars like Hulk Hogan and perhaps even Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels will be up there as possible names who had a big say on what they did on television - which is why they were all usually incredibly dominant.

CREATIVE FREEDOM

If we apply that same dominance to today's product, then there's clearly nobody more dominant than Brock Lesnar in all of WWE, a run which can be stretched back as far as WrestleMania XXX where he conquered The Undertaker's undefeated streak in New Orleans.

Since then, The Beast has steamrolled through the opposition, and despite claims of a UFC return being in the works, WWE decided against putting the Universal Championship on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania or the Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Now, Lesnar is still the champion and is expected to defend the title at SummerSlam with The Big Dog, Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins reportedly in the running to be the next challenger.

When someone is booked in such a destructive manner, fans are right to assume that there is some level of creative control there compared to stars that haven't been booked in the same way. Following on from the recent chaos he's caused, a lot of fans have been asking whether or not he does have that freedom which helps keep him in the more prominent spots.

It's easy to see why. Back in 2016 when Goldberg made his emphatic return, it was revealed by Dave Meltzer that suffering the 85-second loss was all Lesnar's idea. He wanted Goldberg 2-0 up before having the final encounter at WrestleMania 33, rather than a one-and-done situation where Lesnar would win and Goldberg would leave.

However, when the question was asked to Meltzer on his official Twitter account, he revealed that while there's nothing in Lesnar's contract regarding creative freedom - like some stars have had - both Lesnar and Heyman to give ideas to Vince McMahon on how to book him.

IDEAS

In the end, though, it's still Vince who makes the call and not Lesnar on how his character is portrayed on television.

Meltzer tweeted: "Don't think anything is in his contract, but Vince listens to him and Paul and takes their ideas under advisement, but make no mistake, it is Vince's call whatever happens."

It's easy to see why Vince makes the all-important final call.

He knows just how vital Lesnar and his investment in The Beast really is, so he's going to know how he can utilise him in the best way while protecting him in the long-run.

So, while it might seem like Lesnar's role in the company looks like he gets a big say on his booking, it's actually Vince who is adamant on continuing to push Lesnar like a monster, even if he does take some advice on board.
