There isn’t much that Stephen Curry hasn’t accomplished throughout his NBA career.Arguably the best shooter of all-time, Curry has set numerous records. He is a two-time MVP and two-time champion. He’s a perennial representative in the All-Star Game. He still puts up absurdly-efficient and elite numbers playing along three other All-Stars.But, he has never been named a Finals MVP. In 2015, Andre Iguodala took home that award and Kevin Durant did last year.Ahead of Game 1, when asked about whether or not he has his sights set on winning the award in these Finals, Curry made it clear that he doesn’t care and instead wants to add another ring to his collection.Whether or not you want to believe that is up to you.“It doesn't make or break my career or whatever you want to say looking back," he said. "If we win this championship and I don't win Finals MVP, I'm going to be smiling just as wide."

Judging by his performances in Games 1 and 2 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, he is well on his way to capturing his first-ever individual Finals award. In a 124-114 overtime win in Game 1, he went 11-for-23 shooting, including 5-for-11 from three-point range for 29 points along with six rebounds and nine assists over 46 minutes.

Lights out

In Game 2 on Sunday, he dropped 33 points on 11-of-26 shooting, breaking a Finals record by netting nine three-pointers along the way. The nine made threes passed Ray Allen in the record books.

He went 9-for-17 overall from deep and singlehandedly destroyed any hope that Cleveland had in evening the series, hitting a number of clutch shots from beyond the arc. His 17 attempted threes also broke his own Finals record. Curry also added seven boards and eight assists in his 38 minutes on the floor in what was an all-around dominant effort.

To highlight the way in which the game has changed over the years, consider the following:

Curry made four more three pointers in Game 2 alone than the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls did in the entire 1991 Finals.

It’s safe to say that if Curry turns in two more performances like he did at the beginning of the series, the Cavaliers are going to have a very difficult time winning a game. Of course, if Curry ever loses his shooting stroke, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will be there to pick up the slack. That's quite a luxury for the Warriors.

Game 3 is slated for Wednesday.
