Three years ago, Tyson Kidd's promising WWE career was prematurely ended after he suffered a severe injury. During a dark match with Samoa Joe on Monday Night Raw on June 1, 2015, Joe, who had just been called up from NXT, hit his "Muscle Buster" finishing move on Kidd. One week later, WWE confirmed that Kidd had suffered severe neck and spinal injuries as a result of the move - and it was later revealed that he would never wrestle again. In fact, he's lucky that the injury only ended his career. Tweeting shortly after the incident, Kidd explained that only 5% of people survive the injury and that he's lucky to be able to tell his story.

NEW ROLE

Despite having his in-ring career cut short, the Canadian is still a part of WWE and has been working as a producer since 2017.

In cases like his, when a wrestler's career is ended by injury, the company usually does find them a new role away from the ring.

The same thing happened to the likes of Daniel Bryan and Paige. Before being cleared to return to in-ring action in 2018, Bryan spent two years as SmackDown Live's General Manager.

Once he became a part of the fighting roster again - he was replaced by Paige, who retired a night before being announced as the new GM for the Blue Brand following WrestleMania.

LOOKING BACK

Of course, it no doubt takes injured superstars a while to adjust to their new roles within WWE, but according to Kidd himself, he's very happy with the new position he's working.

He tweeted about his situation two days ago, exactly three years after suffering his life-changing injury.

Kidd, who now goes by TJ Wilson, explained that he enjoys his new role with WWE and looks forward to many more years of contributing to something he loves.

Fans will be happy to hear that he will be sticking around with WWE, albeit in a backstage role. Because despite not being able to compete himself, he has plenty to offer those who can.
