A tough task the WWE continually faces is trying to find the next big superstar that can carry the company on their shoulders. In recent times, it's often been the question of who can replace massive stars like The Rock and John Cena. WWE still faces great difficulty in finding someone who can adequately replace the latter - and doesn't get booed - which is why life is quite tough right now for Roman Reigns on that front.

EYE FOR TALENT

Still, Cena and The Great One know talent when they see it, and they're not going to randomly endorse superstars they don't believe has what it takes to usher the organisation into a new era and help take it to new, unseen heights when they are no longer around.

However, both men recently spoke out and showered praise on two exciting NXT stars; while fans on Twitter have connected the dots and realised why they selected two particular superstars as the future of the business.

First, The Rock took to Twitter to endorse new NXT arrival, Ricochet, claiming that he was going to be a future champ.

He tweeted: "He's the man! Love the stuff King is doing and will no doubt be the leader in ushering in a new era of our wrestling business. Future champ."

Cena, though, wasn't going to let The Rock have the last say. When asked at a Q&A session at MegaCon recently, Cena looked over Ricochet when asked which NXT opponent he'd want to face, citing Velveteen Dream as 'the one' over Ricochet and Adam Cole.

He said: "My answer is going to upset some people, but I'd rather face Velveteen Dream.

You know in the Star Wars movies, the old Jedi can look at the young rookie Jedi and be like, I think that's the one.' I kinda have a weird, odd Midichlorian feeling about Velveteen Dream. I think there's something special there."

REACTION

It seems like Cena and The Rock didn't randomly select Velveteen Dream and Ricochet, though, as they fittingly have a match coming up at NXT TakeOver: Chicago with the glowing endorsements only intensifying their rivalry.

Plus, it really wouldn't look good on the other superstar had both Cena and The Rock selected the same superstar. At least now, there could be bragging rights on the line too.

The reactions say it all. Fans are already buzzing to see the 22-year-old Dream take on the high-flying Ricochet, and combining that with the public praise from both The Rock and Cena only makes the match that much more interesting to see who will come out on top.

Either Cena will have the last laugh and his pick will leave Chicago the victor, or The Great One will prove he has the better eye for talent with Ricochet humbling Velveteen Dream.
