At the end of May, the Philadelphia Eagles made a surprising decision to release Mychal Kendricks after six seasons. The outside linebacker had a solid season in 2017 - and was an important player for the Eagles during their postseason run to Super Bowl LII. Kendricks made eight combined tackles in the NFC Championship game as his team beat the Minnesota Vikings 38-7.In his first-ever Super Bowl start, the 27-year-old made four combined tackles as Philadelphia shocked the New England Patriots to win their first world championship.

ROCKY RELATIONSHIPS

However, even ahead of the last season, Kendricks was said to be unhappy with the Eagles - and even requested a trade, due to a decrease in his playing time in 2016.

That didn't happen though, as general manager Howie Roseman declined his request. Fast forward 12 months though - and the OL has been released.

There should be no shortage of options for Kendricks though - as he's already had visits with the Vikings, the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns, according to CBS Sports.

THE REPORTS

Interestingly, Ian Rapoport, who works for both the NFL Network and NFL.com, tweeted on Sunday that the player has already signed a one-year deal with the Browns.

This tweet, it's fair to say, did not go down at all well with Kendricks. According to him, the report is false. In fact, he launched a foul-mouthed rant about the whole idea.

He told Chris Tomasson, who works for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, that the report is not accurate - and verbally attacked those who made the claims.

He also directly responded to Rapoport's tweet - saying that he'll never respect Rapoport again.

FROM BEST TO WORST?

Despite Kendrick's denial, a number of other journalists have confirmed the original reports and continue to suggest that he will sign with the Browns.

If he does so, then he'll be leaving a Super Bowl winning team and joining up with one that didn't win a single game in 2017 - and has only one win in 32 games.

Arguably, you can see why Kendrick is so adamant that he isn't joining the Browns if a deal really isn't in place.

Because that suggestion could damage his chances of moving to the other teams he's visited over the last couple of weeks.

With so many reports still stating that Kendricks has - or will, sign a deal with the Browns very soon, it's worth keeping an eye on the situation to see if he just didn't want the situation leaked early - or if there really was no deal in place.
