Real Madrid skipper Iker Casillas believes his Liverpool counterpart Steven Gerrard will join him at the Bernabeu.

Gerrard has recently revealed his desire to remain at Anfield after the Reds' acquisition of Joe Cole, but reports suggest this is unlikely to stop Spanish giants Real from pursuing the England midfielder.

Los Blancos have also been linked with a multi-million move for Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole - who played under new Real manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge - and Casillas is confident that the defender will follow Gerrard to Madrid, calling the pair Mourinho's "main transfer targets."

The 29-year-old World Cup winning goalkeeper told the Daily Star:

“Mourinho is fully aware of their quality, having managed in the Premier League.

“My understanding is that Mourinho is doing everything he can to bring them both in before the start of the season.

“They are our two main transfer targets and Jose will move mountains to sign the two of them.

“I can understand Liverpool and Chelsea’s reluctance to sell but that does not mean Jose and the board won’t do everything they can to try and get both signatures.

“The senior players are really confident that both will arrive.”
