England fans noticed something incredible when FIFA released the heights and weights of the 23 players Gareth Southgate has chosen to take to the World Cup.Captain Harry Kane’s weight was listed at a hefty 15st 6lb, or 98kg.That would make Kane one of the heaviest players at the tournament in Russia.Panama’s Roman Torres weighed in the heaviest at 15st 8lb (99kg).If it seemed too bizarre to be true, that’s because it is.

The FA have confirmed that an administrative error was made and that Kane actually weighs 14st (89kg).

That sounds more appropriate for the 6ft 2in goalscoring machine.

Lineker's tweet about Kane

Football fans doubted FIFA’s report the moment it came out and among those to react was Gary Lineker.

The Match of the Day host posted a humorous tweet in response to the incorrect weight.

“They’ve probably added on the weight of expectation,” Lineker joked.

For a further indication that FIFA got it woefully wrong, Ruben Loftus-Cheek comes in with a weight of 73kg.

That comes despite the midfielder himself admitting to the Daily Mail last month that he weighs 14st.

So apparently Loftus-Cheek has shed 3st in a matter of weeks. Right.

Lineker’s right when he suggests Kane is under pressure in Russia.

The 24-year-old scored 41 goals in all competitions for Tottenham and England supporters will expect him to shine when their campaign gets underway against Tunisia.

Kane will lead a squad that he believes can go all the way.

“It's impossible not to dream about lifting the World Cup. It's the biggest competition in the world," Kane said last month.

"I believe we can win it - anyone can. I cannot sit here and say we are not going to win it because we could do.

"It is my mindset and I want to win at everything I do. The players in the team want to as well.

“It is worth fighting for.”

Kane’s attitude is admirable.

He will captain an exciting group of young players that includes the likes of Loftus-Cheek and Raheem Sterling.

An entire nation will hope that the weight of expectation isn’t too much.
