Yerry Mina probably couldn’t believe his luck when he signed for Barcelona in January.

The Colombian was snapped up by the Spanish club from Palmeiras for €12 million in the winter transfer window, and was viewed as back-up for Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti.

However, things haven’t exactly gone to plan for the 23-year-old.

Mina only made six appearances in all competitions and didn’t exactly show any of his potential.

In fact, his performance during Barca’s 5-4 defeat to Levante - their only league defeat of the season - left a lot to be desired.

As a result, it seems Mina’s Barca dream could be over before it really began.

According to AS, he will not remain at the club beyond this summer.

After signing him for €12 million, they’re now looking to offload him for just €9 million.

The club believe that having Pique, Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen at the club is enough and, the fact Mina has failed to acclimatise, means they’re now looking to sell him.

But there’s a problem - no clubs are currently interested in signing him.

Therefore, Mina will be hoping that a good performance in the World Cup with his Colombian side will be enough to raise a bit of interest in him.

Of course, Mina arrived as one of Barca’s non-EU players with the club only allowed three.

Brazilians Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho currently occupy the two other slots.

And with the arrival of 21-year-old Arthur from Gremio, the club may need a spare non-EU spot in case the midfielder is ready for first-team football immediately.

So it seems as though Mina’s Barca spell is already over after just six appearances. Hopefully, another European club will be interested and help salvage his career.
