Jurgen Klopp has been a man on a mission for Liverpool in this summer's transfer window.

Not only has the German signed Fabinho from Monaco, but he's working on deals to bring the likes of Nabil Fekir, Moses Simon and Alisson to Anfield.

A new goalkeeper is the priority for Liverpool. Loris Karius may never recover from his Champions League nightmare while Simon Mignolet simply isn't good enough.

Alisson is the Reds' top target, though there are also rumours of a move for Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak.

Southampton's Alex McCarthy is also said to be on Klopp's goalkeeping radar, though he is very much a back-up option should all else fail.

"No progress with keeper search for Liverpool," reports the Mirror's David Maddock. "Oblak priced out of market by Atletico and Liverpool will not bid at £88 million.

"Sources say [it] will be 'very difficult' to get Alisson out of AS Roma too. Liverpool may be forced to look elsewhere. [Southampton's] McCarthy on radar."

KLOPP ON THE LOOKOUT

It sounds like Klopp faces quite the challenge to sign a world-class goalkeeper, but fortunately for him he has Roberto Firmino scouting the field on international duty.

Firmino is currently with the Brazil squad and according to the man himself, he's been trying to nudge Alisson in the direction of joining Liverpool.

Alisson has also asked Firmino about playing on Merseyside, so there certainly seems to be some interest there.

"He asked me about Liverpool and I hope he can come here, but I know he has other proposals," said Liverpool's striker of Alisson in a press conference.

"From time to time I will give him a pinch to come to Liverpool and help us, but it's with his agents. It wouldn't be bad if he came to Liverpool."

Interesting. Liverpool fans will only hope Firmino's attempts to bring Alisson to Anfield eventually pay dividends.

The 25-year-old is certainly an upgrade on Karius and Mignolet and Liverpool are going to need someone of his quality in order to challenge for the Premier League next season.
