Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid spell could be coming to an end.

After securing his fourth Champions League title in five years with Los Blancos, Ronaldo sparked a series of reports and rumours with a shock post-match interview.

The 33-year-old remarkably stated: "It has been very nice playing at Real Madrid.

"In the coming days I'll give an answer to my fans, they've always been at my side."

Since then, Ronaldo has apologised and even told Real Madrid fans that he'll see them next year, yet recent reports from Spain suggest things aren't as simple as that.

Doubts over Ronaldo's future

Ronaldo is believed to be frustrated that Lionel Messi and Neymar are earning more than him at Barcelona and Paris-Saint Germain, with Real wary to shell out blockbuster wages for a 33-year-old.

Of course, Ronaldo is no ordinary 33-year-old but it's yet to be seen whether Real will budge.

Were the Portuguese to leave this summer, PSG and Manchester United would be seen as the immediate favourites.

Man Utd react to doubts over Ronaldo

Former-Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello even claimed last week: "Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with Real Madrid? Cristiano wants to return to Manchester United alongside Mourinho."

Well, a week-and-a-half on from the Champions League final and United have reacted to questions over Ronaldo's future.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils will prioritise a move for Gareth Bale before even entertaining the idea of securing Ronaldo's return.

The club weren't drawn into the possibility of signing him last summer and it's revealed that Ed Woodward is 'determined not to be distracted' by Ronaldo reports this year, too.

Mourinho isn't looking for top-class competition for Romelu Lukaku and Ronaldo would likely join the club as a central striker, so doesn't fit the billing.

So, as long there's a chance United could sign Bale, it looks unlikely that Ronaldo will pull on the famous red jersey again.

United fans would love to see the five-time Ballon d'Or winner back at Old Trafford but it seems the club are completely focused on Jose Mourinho's vision for a squad overhaul.

Deals for Fred and Diogo Dalot have already been secured, with Mourinho envisaging Bale as the ideal fit for United's problem at right wing.

Willian is also being monitored at the club yet Bale remains a dream commercial signing for Woodward.

Sadly for United fans, they may never see Ronaldo playing for the Red Devils ever again.
