The future of WWE touches down in the UK this weekend as NXT takes over Download Festival.

The entire developmental roster will be in attendance for their third annual trip to Donington Park - and the talent will be putting on a number of shows as well as meeting wrestling fans on Friday.

TakeOver: Chicago is now just nine days away, so the NXT stars won't be pulling any punches as they look to build momentum ahead of the next big pay-per-view.

With that in mind, here are five things that could happen at Download Festival this weekend.

1) Tommaso Ciampa gets his revenge on Johnny Gargano

Wednesday night's episode of NXT concluded with Gargano serving Ciampa a well-deserved - albeit, brutal beatdown.

Ciampa came out to the ring to address the epic battle in Chicago that's expected to end the pairs long-running feud.

Instead, though, he decided to blame Gargano for injuring his own wife a couple of weeks back - and that was never going to sit well with Johnny Wrestling.

He held off security long enough to sprit down the ramp and get a few hits in - before landing a huge suicide dive from the crowd to floor Ciampa.

As the show went off the air, Gargano chased his rival back up the ramp and continued the beatdown - as Ciampa was busted open.

At Download, expect "The Project" to seek his revenge - as the two men could meet for one of the last times before ending it all in Chicago.

2) Velveteen Dream and Richochet build towards their TakeOver match with a 1v1 battle

Last week, Richochet shocked Velveteen Dream - and the rest of the WWE Universe, by front-flipping out of the ring to stare down his opponent, who had been cutting a promo ringside.

His actions now have everybody on standby - and many are expecting the pair to put on a Match of the Year contender in just over one weeks time.

So hopefully, they'll give fans a little taste of what's to come on Friday. If they do, expect an epic match with plenty of huge spots.

3) Aleister Black holds an open challenge for the NXT Championship

Black has held the NXT Championship for two months now - winning the title the night before WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.

He's set to put the belt on the line against Lars Sullivan in Chicago - but before that, why not give someone else on the roster a chance to challenge him for the gold?

Open challenges are always exciting to watch - and there would be no better way to impress fans at Download than by putting NXT's biggest prize on the line - for anyone to take.

4) The Undisputed Era squash some local talent

The Undisputed Era are perhaps the most exciting stable in WWE, let alone just NXT.

Formed of Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong - it's surely only a matter of time before all four are called up to the main roster - hopefully together.

But those who don't know much about the stable should get a chance to see exactly why they don't only hold the NXT tag team championships - but the North American Championship too.

Having them wrestle a match (and squash) some local talent, would showcase exactly why The Undisputed Era are the future of WWE - as so many people are suggesting.

5) Shanya Baszler vs Kairi Sane vs Nikki Cross in a triple threat match for the NXT Women's Championship

Like Black, Baszler won the NXT Women's Championship in New Orleans. She's also due to make a title defense against Cross in Chicago.

But at Download, why not have another woman, who's also been in the title picture, added to the match to make it a triple threat - with the championship on the line. Cue Sane.

Having former UFC fighter and submission specialist Baszler competing against more than one other wrestler will give NXT a chance to show off the diverse talent it has across the roster.

No matter what happens at Download Festival this weekend, fans that come to watch NXT will be in for a treat - because WWE always puts on a show.
