It seems Liverpool have finally got their man in Nabil Fekir.Jurgen Klopp has been convinced that the 24-year-old is the right man to fill the void left by the departure of Philippe Coutinho in January. But progress has been slow in recent times. In fact, Lyon's president, Jean-Michel Aulus, said just yesterday that he does not think a deal will be done before the World Cup starts in Russia next week."The record is at a standstill, there is no way forward," he explained in a statement. "The record will certainly not close during the World Cup and I do not think there is any change before the World Cup. has not set a base price because we have not discussed this yet."However, it seems a breakthrough has been made since his words yesterday.News emerged late on Thursday night that Liverpool and Lyon had agreed terms worth an initial £48.4million plus a further £4.4million in bonuses. That will come as a relief to Fekir, of whom has had his eyes set on a move to Liverpool since the league season ended. But why was Fekir so set on a move to Liverpool? It wasn't as if he didn't have any interest form other parties. Bayern were reportedly also keen on his services but he chose the Reds. And according to L'Equipe, there's two reasons for that. And as you can imagine, Jurgen Klopp plays a massive role.Firstly, Fekir was impressed by Liverpool's run to the Champions League final in the 2017/18 season.Although they did not win it, Klopp's side impressed throughout and Fekir clearly liked what he saw from the Merseyside club.Secondly, Klopp took the time out to speak directly with Fekir, which only reiterated his desire to join the Reds over any other club.

Well done to Klopp.

His Liverpool team made big strides last season, and proceedings are already looking more promising for the upcoming campaign.

Klopp has already sealed deals for Fabinho and Naby Keita, and is set to add Fekir to that later on Friday.

Liverpool could well be the team to beat this season, both in the Premier League and the Champions League.
