Just when it seemed Liverpool were on the brink of making another summer signing, Lyon have dropped a bombshell about Nabil Fekir's proposed move.Reports emerged on Thursday evening that Liverpool and Lyon had reached an agreement for the Frenchman in a £53m deal, with a medical set to take place on Friday. This was despite Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas insisting that a move wouldn't be possible until after the 2018 World Cup."His case is at a standstill. It has not at all advanced," said Aulas. "The case certainly won't be resolved during the World Cup."I do not think that there will be changes before [the World Cup]. We have not placed a base price [on Fekir] because we have not yet discussed that."Fekir has previously made his feelings known to Lyon that he wants to join Liverpool and no one else, so it seemed inevitable that the 24-year-old would be moving to Anfield. But now there's a problem, because Lyon have just tweeted saying that the rumours of them agreeing to sell Fekir to Liverpool are false.

The tweets read in English: "The information on the transfer of Nabil Fekir is false.

"Olympique Lyonnais categorically denies the false information disseminated by many media about the transfer of Nabil Fekir to Liverpool.

"In this period of transfers where the slightest rumour is often presented as a reality, Olympique Lyonnais recalls that only the information disseminated by the club on its website is authentic."

What on earth is going on here? There's a good chance Lyon are just trying to keep things under control while a deal is formalised, but what if that's not the case?

Liverpool's transfer window was going to well but signing Fekir could now end up getting quite complicated. More to follow...
