WWE fans haven't shied away from the fact that they dislike the current feud between Daniel Bryan and Big Cass on SmackDown LIVE.

Following Bryan's triumphant return at WrestleMania 34 - where he and Shane McMahon defeated Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn - fans were waiting to see who the company would have feud with Bryan in his first singles storyline since he was cleared to return to in-ring competition.

UNDERWHELMING FEUD

Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and The Miz were just some of the names that had been thrown around. So, the disappointment from WWE fans was understandable when Big Cass was unveiled as his first opponent after returning from injury and moving from Monday Night RAW to SmackDown LIVE in the Superstar Shake-up.

Fans were hopeful that their storyline wouldn't continue after Backlash, as the former WWE Champion was victorious while Big Cass found himself in hot water after disobeying direct orders from Vince McMahon which resulted in backstage heat.

Although there was an injury scare, which proved to be a work, the storyline is continuing with a rematch set for Money in the Bank while rumours have indicated that The Miz could get involved in the finish.

With so much negativity being spouted towards the feud, Bryan has finally spoken out. When speaking to Inside The Ropes, Bryan revealed that he's enjoying working with someone of Cass' size, while it also gives Bryan an opportunity to show the world what his on-screen rival is capable of.

ENJOYMENT

According to IW Nerd, he said: "I’m a big believer - I know that everybody wants to see the big matches - I would have loved to have come back and gotten right into the big matches. We did a match with me and AJ Styles on SmackDown, but especially now with the brand split - Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, all of these things.

"But I also think you need to build to those. I’m somebody that’s always been, whether it’s been here or Ring Of Honor or whatever, I’ve worked hard at helping to bring new guys up. The idea of the old-timer who is trying to ‘keep his position’ and hold everybody down… I don’t think that works. I don’t think that’s sustainable and I think we need to build everybody up, and if everybody seems like superstars, then the whole company is more fun to watch.

"I’ve actually enjoyed - I don’t enjoy getting booted in the face - I enjoy the challenge of wrestling somebody who is that big and newer, that sort of thing. I think it’s a good opportunity to show everybody what he can do. It’s also fun for me to go ‘OK, what do we have here?"

It's clear that - even though fans might not like it - Big Cass fits the mould of a typical superstar that Vince loves.

Bryan has nothing to gain by publicly bashing a feud which is clearly going to lead to much bigger and better things, should he sign a new deal with WWE which is the expectation right now.

Still, Bryan deserves praise for wanting to get the best out of Big Cass and to show that to the world, rather than selfishly chasing the huge spots right off the bat.
