Cristiano Ronaldo's future is being questioned yet again.

In what seems to be a summer routine, the Portuguese superstar has reportedly made an 'irreversible decision' to leave Real Madrid.

The 33-year-old is said to be unhappy with his already huge salary, with the larger amounts picked up by Lionel Messi and Neymar the only reason behind his discontent.

Real's interest in the latter also has Ronaldo supposedly feeling undervalued.

According to Marca, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez even put the huge figure of €30m-per-year on the table, €5m more than his current wage.

However, they're unwilling to go higher, despite Ronaldo wanting parity with Messi's €50m-a-year, with the report stating that Real believe their star man is in decline.

It's a sticky situation, one which further highlights why one of the greatest to ever play the game is not universally loved in the Spanish capital - despite scoring more goals than games.

And his teammate and known friend Marcelo has dropped a bit of a truth bomb on him while talking to the press on Brazil duty.

"Cristiano is not the owner of Real Madrid," Madrid's left-back said. "If the president wants to sign someone, the president will sign him. But why can't Neymar come and Cristiano stay?

"The dressing-room all wants Cristiano to stay. And Real Madrid's doors are always open for Neymar. Madrid must always look for the best players. One day Neymar will play for Real Madrid."

It's a valid point and it seem obvious to most football fans that Neymar and Ronaldo could operate in the same forward line.

Ronaldo is tending to operate more as an out-and-out striker these days and who better than Neymar to fill the void out on the left?

While it seems unlikely that Real will let him leave this summer - especially with a €1bn release clause - it does seem that the Portuguese is unhappy at the club.

Suppose the big question is, who could afford to splash out so much money on a 33-year-old?
