Liverpool aren’t hanging around in the transfer window this summer, are they?Just days after they lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid, they were unveiling Fabinho for a fee worth around £44 million. And it seems they’re closing in on numerous other signings. There are seemingly complications with the potential deal for Nabil Fekir, with reports suggesting that there is a concern over his long-term knee injury that was discovered in his medical.Whether or not that deal goes through is unknown.Regardless of whether they sign Fekir or not, it seems Jurgen Klopp is eyeing Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri as well. While the front-three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were sensational last season, the Reds need a player capable of replacing them.

COULD SHAQIRI JOIN LIVERPOOL?

And Shaqiri could be that man - especially when he has a reported £12 million release clause due to Stoke’s relegation.

Shaqiri himself was asked about those very rumours as he prepared for the Russia World Cup with his Switzerland side.

What did he have to say about a possible move to Liverpool?

Well, check out his reaction:

Very interesting.

It’s not the first time Shaqiri has been linked with a move to Liverpool, though.

In a 2016 interview, he explained how a move to Anfield had been agreed two years earlier.

"I really wanted to go in the summer and had offers from Liverpool and Atletico Madrid," he said. "I chose Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers had called me several times before the World Cup, but Bayern didn't allow me to leave.

"There were then various discussions in which it became a bit louder.

"The Bayern officials believed that the situation would change through the season, but it didn't. That's how it happened."

Will Shaqiri get his wish this time around?
