England are actually in pretty good shape going into the World Cup finals.

Although it wasn't against the greatest of opposition, Gareth Southgate's men won both of their warm-up games fairly comfortably.

England played well in the opening 45 minutes against Nigeria en route to a 2-1 victory, and then put in an assured performance in a 2-0 win against Costa Rica five days later.

The Three Lions are not expected to win the competition, but could thrive as a result of being underdogs.

There will be a few, however, hoping that England can pull off a Leicester City inspired shock in the finals.

One man who is very pessimistic about England's chances is Arsenal legend, Tony Adams.

The former centre-back revealed he had a number of concerns about Southgate's side.

And he could not resist launching a dig at England's Tottenham players who form the spine of England's side.

Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Keiran Trippier, Danny Rose and Harry Kane are all expected to start for England in the finals, but Adams is 'really worried' about England's World Cup chances as their Tottenham players don't know how to win.

“You must be able to handle winning emotionally and mentally and if they don’t know how to win it, they aren’t going to win it," he said.

“I’m really worried about these Tottenham players, I don’t think they know how to win. They’re very good players but at certain points in seasons and tournaments, you have to step up — there’s a psyche players must have.”

Absolutely savage.

Although he acknowledged they were 'very good players', Adams simply could not resist having a dig at the lack of trophies Tottenham have won in recent seasons.

And understandably, Arsenal fans absolutely loved his criticism of their big rivals' players.

Adams also expressed his concern at England's defence as reasons why he thinks England won't go all the way.

“Teams who win World Cups usually have a real anchor, such as Sergio Ramos or Fabio Cannavaro. England haven’t got that rock," he stated.

“And we’re going into tournament without a Buffon, a champion goalkeeper and that’s let us down before.

“Great keepers and centre-backs were what the English were brought up on.

“I’d have liked it if Gareth had more experience among his coaching staff too.”
