Liverpool look almost certain to break the bank for a goalkeeper this summer.

The position has been problematic for the Reds for some time, but Klopp has previously seemed reluctant to address it.

However, Loris Karius' nightmare in the Champions League final means the German boss may do something about it this summer.

Alisson Becker has been linked to Liverpool for some time, and those rumours have only intensified in recent weeks after the side's devastating loss to Real Madrid.

Liverpool fans were given even more hope that a deal could be done after Roberto Firmino revealed Alisson had been asking him about life at Anfield.

“Yes, he [Alisson] asked me about Liverpool and I hope he can come here, but I know he has other proposals," Firmino said on Wednesday.

“From time to time I will give him a pinch to come to Liverpool and help us, but it's with his agents. It wouldn't be bad if he came to Liverpool.”

However, there has been bad news for Liverpool fans in recent hours.

The Reds missed out on a deal for Nabil Fekir in the past few days, and they could well miss out on a deal for Alisson too.

Brazil's goalkeeping coach, Claudio Tafferel, has revealed that the 25-year-old is 'very happy' at Roma and that he has even told him he is content at staying at the club.

"Alisson is very happy at Roma and the rumours of a transfer are just rumours," he told Tele Radio StereoI, per Liverpool Echo.

"I don’t know what will happen, but he said he’d be content to remain at Roma."

It doesn't look great for Liverpool fans.

Although Alisson's future remains in question, it seems he is not going to actively pursue a move to Merseyside.

Liverpool may now have to turn their attention elsewhere, with stoppers such as Jan Oblak and Bernd Leno just two other names that have been linked with the club.

Robbie Fowler thinks that Liverpool need to buy a goalkeeper, regardless of whether it is Alisson or not.

"For Jurgen Klopp though, there are a few issues," he said last week. "I spoke to him before the game, and he told me he will make signings in the summer, that the plans were already in place to make the squad much stronger.

"That is what is needed now.

"There’s the keeper. I felt for Loris Karius, and I don’t want to crucify him. But if you are there in these big games, then you have to be ready to perform. And obviously he didn’t.

"I’m sure it is a position Klopp will look at now. He needs to."
