Football fans are desperate to see Mohamed Salah at the World Cup.The Liverpool star has arrived in Russia with his Egypt teammates but he missed training on Sunday as he recovers from the shoulder injury that he suffered in the Champions League. The World Cup is supposed to pit the best players across the globe against each other but Egypt’s team doctor, Mohamed Abou al-Ela, doesn’t believe Salah will be ready for The Pharaohs’ opening group game against Uruguay on June 15."He still feels pain," Abou el-Ela said."This type of injury needs a recovery period of three weeks before going back to the field."The fact that Egypt have included Salah in their squad suggests they believe he can at least play some part of their campaign. They will hope the 25-year-old is ready for the match against hosts Russia on June 19, with Saudi Arabia to come six days later.

Fan grabs Salah's shoulder

An incident that happened when Egypt’s players exited their team bus suggests Salah remains in plenty of pain.

An eager Egypt fan tried to get a selfie with the winger, approaching Salah from his right and placing his left hand on Salah’s left shoulder.

The injured shoulder.

Salah quickly urged the fan to take his hand away. It’s clearly still an issue.

Salah was instrumental in helping Egypt qualify for the World Cup, scoring five goals in qualifying including the late winner against Congo last October that sealed a place in Russia.

The rest of the nations in Group A aren’t incredibly imposing but the task of reaching the knockout stages will be easier with Salah playing.

The forward, who scored 44 goals in all competitions for Liverpool last season, remains upbeat about his chances of returning in time.

"I'm excited. God willing I'm well-prepared and things are going well and my morale is high," Salah said.

"I cannot say what we're going to reach, but the players' ambitions are high and I hope we get a good result."

It has to be said that Salah deserves the opportunity to lead his country on the grandest stage of them all.
