The Money in the Bank pay-per-view always brings a sense of excitement, similar to what you find at the Royal Rumble every January.

While there's less of a focus on surprising returns and debuts, all of the limelight tends to focus on which lucky male - and now female - will leave with the briefcase to all but guarantee themselves a run as the world champion.

EXCITEMENT

The exciting thing about this event, though, is that the WWE usually does an excellent job of keeping their winners under wraps, and they aren't often that obvious. This year, the same trend is continuing as in the men's Money in the Bank ladder match, all eight stars could genuinely leave Chicago as Mr Money in the Bank.

The same can be applied for the women, as the likes of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss all vying to follow in Carmella's footsteps and hold the white briefcase.

However, WWE might have another surprise up their sleeve this Sunday, as rumours have emerged claiming that a return is set to take place.

According to PW Insider, WWE is bringing James Ellsworth back to the company, and it could happen as early as the Money in the Bank event on Sunday.

RETURN

The source sounds very confident of this happening, as PW Insider has claimed that there have been several pitches to bring Ellsworth back to WWE and the source is actually confirming that he's going to be at the event in Illinois.

Ellsworth was released by the company in November 2017 after his contract had expired in what proved to be somewhat of a fairytale journey for him. He went from becoming a wrestling meme after taking on Braun Strowman on Monday Night RAW to actually signing a deal with the company and sharing the ring with the likes of AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose.

Still, Ellsworth did reveal his disappointment at this exit, especially as there were supposedly some other ideas in the works for his character.

Although PW Insider has confirmed that Ellsworth will be at the event, they haven't yet provided any details on what his role could be.

The safe assumption would be that Ellsworth - once again - steals the headlines at Money in the Bank.

He did so last year when he unhooked the briefcase for Carmella, before The Princess of Staten Island was forced to win it again when the match was booked once more - a decision not many were happy with as it took the limelight away from the women.

Although, Carmella does have a tough task ahead of her in a SmackDown Women's Championship defence against Asuka.

Perhaps this is where the chinless wonder could fit in, a year after helping launch Carmella to the title picture.
