Signing a new goalkeeper is an absolute must for Liverpool this summer following Loris Karius' nightmare in the Champions League final last month.
Karius made two costly mistakes in Kiev that both led to goals for Real Madrid. It's believed he has now lost the trust of Jurgen Klopp, who was prepared to give him a chance.
Simon Mignolet also looks likely to leave following five years at Anfield, meaning Klopp can expect to be very busy in this transfer window.
A number of potential new goalkeepers have been lined up by the German but he hasn't had much luck thus far.
AS Roma's Alisson has been a top target for months now while Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak has been virtually ruled out due to his sky-high asking price.
Indeed, Klopp's search for a new No.1 has even led him to Southampton's Alex McCarthy, which wouldn't be the most inspired signing.
"No progress with keeper search for Liverpool," tweeted the Mirror's David Maddock last week. "Oblak priced out of market by Atletico and Liverpool will not bid at £88m.
"Sources say will be 'very difficult' to get Alisson out of Roma, too. Liverpool may be forced to look elsewhere. [Southampton's] McCarthy on radar."
So what's the latest on Liverpool bringing in a new goalkeeper? Well, according to the Mirror, Klopp has actually spoken to the board about Alisson and it's not good news.
Klopp has decided £70m is too much for the Brazil international and has told Liverpool's superiors as much. He is on the brink of ending his interest.
This is despite local reports suggesting Liverpool had made a £60m bid for Alisson. Roma are playing hard ball and refusing to go any lower than £70m.
It's also claimed that Roma are annoyed with themselves for allowing Mohamed Salah to join Liverpool for just £40m last summer, so that's why they're demanding so much.
Clearly they don't want to make the same mistake for a second year in a row - and you can hardly blame them.
Liverpool fans have been reacting to the news of Klopp giving up on Alisson and it's safe to say they're not very impressed.
As you can see by the tweets above and below, Kopites just want Klopp to splash the cash rather than sign someone like McCarthy or Stoke City's Jack Butland.
