Liverpool are probably glad there’s a World Cup this summer to distract them from their Champions League final heartbreak.Liverpool lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in Kiev and many players face a long summer to dwell on that result for the next few months. However, for eight of them, they will be busy concentrating on performing for their respective nations at the World Cup in Russia. For James Milner, though, he will be sitting at home watching it on TV.Milner had a brilliant campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side and his performances helped Liverpool reach the European Cup final. There were even murmurings that he would come out of international retirement ahead of the World Cup.However, Milner wasn’t tempted to do that and the 32-year-old will enjoy a well-deserved rest this summer. But it wasn’t just Milner’s performances on the pitch that football fans enjoyed last season. He also joined Twitter in March - and has produced numerous hilarious tweets since. And after Liverpool revealed their brand new ‘deep violet’ away kit, he posted another humorous tweet.

In April, the Reds revealed their brand new home strip with Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino modelling the new shirt.

And Milner took to Twitter to say: “Handsome bunch… no shame in not making cut… I must be doing the away kit.”

So when Liverpool revealed their new away kit on Wednesday, Milner wasn’t too impressed.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were picked to show off the new strip.

And Milner referred back to his tweet in April and joked: “Oh, maybe not.”

Poor old James.
