SmackDown Live this week was largely disappointing for a go-home show before a pay-per-view, but if there's one talking point from the show which everyone seems to have an opinion on, it's Samoa Joe's new look.
Samoa Joe's New Look
The Destroyer debuted a new haircut on WWE's blue brand last night as he walked down to the ring for his match on the show against Rusev, a fresh clean mohawk. Some fans love it, while others think he looks like Bernie from Sesame Street.
Joe gave his fans a better look at his new haircut, this time with his hair styled down with gel, when he posted a picture of himself onto his Instagram account sitting backstage after SmackDown had concluded.
One eagle-eyed WWE fan, however, noticed something interested in the background of the former NXT Champion's picture, as he was sitting in front of what looks like a production box with the label 'Jericho/P1' on it.
As you can see in his post below, the fan went on to speculate that this could mean the WWE has plans for Chris Jericho soon in the future, which actually caught the attention of Y2J himself.
Jericho decided to play along and troll WWE fans by simply saying in a tweet: "It’s a clue!"
Fans have come up with their own theories about the meaning of 'Jericho/P1'. They vary from Jericho and AJ Styles tag team group Y2AJ reforming, to Joe being an upcoming guest on Jericho's podcast, to Jericho appearing on Raw to challenge Seth Rollins to an IC title vs IC title match.
Y2J is unlikely to return to WWE on a full-time basis anytime soon since he only recently became New Japan Pro Wrestling's (NJPW) new IWGP Intercontinental Champion after he defeated Tetsuya Naito at NJPW's Dominion.
Joe, on the other hand, will be involved in the men's Money in the Bank match for a world championship contract against Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, The Miz, Rusev, Bobby Roode, Kevin Owens, and either Big E, Kofi Kingston, or Xavier Woods of The New Day this Sunday at the Allstate Arena in Chicago.
