There's no awards for guessing why Liverpool have been linked with so many goalkeepers this summer.

Admittedly, Alisson Becker rumours can be traced back to the early months of 2018 and Liverpool fans have never been overly confident in their two shot stoppers, but the Champions League final has seen reports go into overdrive.

Loris Karius, who had enjoyed decent form this year, dropped two clangers in the defeat to Real Madrid - gifting goals to Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale in the process.

The obvious candidate to replace the German is the aforementioned Alisson who has also attracted interest from Real and Chelsea.

However, it's looking increasingly unlikely that the Reds will make an approach for the Brazilian with Sky Sports reporting that Liverpool have baulked at AS Roma's demand of £80 million.

Liverpool interested in new 'keeper

In light of this, Jurgen Klopp will have to look elsewhere unless he intends to give Karius another chance or persuades Simon Mignolet to stay.

There have been no shortage of alternative goalkeepers linked, too.

Anyone from Jan Oblak to Alex McCarthy is being tracked by Liverpool according to various reports.

Fans vote on their preferred choices

And although a combination of Klopp and the powers that be at Liverpool will ultimately have the final say, what do the supporters think about the whole saga?

Well, the Mirror sought to get to the bottom of that very question by inviting Kopites to vote on who they want to stand between the sticks for them next season.

They included goalkeepers who have been linked to Liverpool and, as a control, Karius himself.

With hundreds of votes already, check out the current standings:

1. Jan Oblak

2. Alisson Becker

3. Gianluigi Donnarumma

4. Nick Pope

5. Kevin Trapp

6. Jasper Cillessen

7. Jack Butland

8. Loris Karius

It won't be overly surprising to see Alisson and Oblak leading the way, but it's interesting that the latter is currently in top spot.

Most notably, however, is the position of Pope in fourth.

That arrangement seems to be the most favourable option to Liverpool fans outside of the world-class top three, although it's important to note that more supporters voted him 'down' than 'up.'

Then there's poor old Karius. With 109 fans having voted him down at the time of writing, it seems there's no enthusiasm amongst the fanbase for him to continue in goal next season.

The Mirror could also have included the likes of McCarthy and Bernd Leno to see how they would have fared at the fans' hands.

Sadly for Kopites, it looks unlikely that the club will fork out for the likes of Oblak and Alisson so someone like Pope could be the way forward.

It could be a very interesting summer for Liverpool, to say the least.
