Anthony Martial looks almost certain to be leaving Manchester United now.
In a stunning interview with RMC on Wednesday night, the player's agent sensationally revealed that Martial was set on leaving Old Trafford after three years at the club. The decision had been mooted for sometime but now United fans have seemingly been given confirmation.
Philippe Lamboley revealed: “After thinking about all the possibilities and scenarios, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.
"I think that when Manchester United, which is the most powerful club in the world it must be remembered, do not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is because they do really want to make him an important player.
"Manchester United will have the last word and that we will respect the decision of the club, he will go to the end of its commitment.”
Martial eyeing Man Utd exit
So, either Martial will see out his contract at United or the club will bow to his wishes and accommodate a summer departure.
There would be no shortage of potential suitors for the Frenchman with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham being linked with his signature.
Arsenal even held an interest in a move during the Alex Sanchez drama of January and could rekindle their connection in coming weeks.
Mourinho to chase Willian as replacement
According to ESPN, Man Utd sources told them in April that they would be willing to listen to offers if Martial pushed for a move and that seems to be the case now.
And now sources at the club believe Jose Mourinho could 'step up his interest' in Willian in the event that Martial leaves Old Trafford.
Mourinho has been keen on a reunion with his former Chelsea player for sometime now and the exit of Martial could be prove the perfect opportunity to sign him.
The rumour is seemingly corroborated by a report in the Telegraph also, which insists Mourinho won't sell up unless he secures a high-class replacement such as Willian or Gareth Bale.
Willian must be seen as the far easier purchase, however.
Such are the words of Martial's agent, that it looks a question of when and not if the 22-year-old leaves the club.
Both player and manager can foot some blame in the stagnation of his United career but there is no doubting the potential he has.
Mourinho will simply have to hope he's not making a mistake like the sales of Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, before turning his attention to Stamford Bridge.
