The Attitude Era certainly provided some fantastic moments for WWE fans. It's why many fans consider it the greatest era of WWE history.
One of the more memorable storylines was between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon. As many WWE fans know, for large parts of the Attitude Era, Stone Cold and Vince McMahon were involved in a feud against one another, with The Texas Rattlesnake being an anti-establishment character.
However, that all changed after WrestleMania 17 when he shook hands with Mr. McMahon after his match vs The Rock in the middle of the ring where he won the WWF Championship, turning Stone Cold heel for the first time since 1997.
At the time as well, the WCW Invasion was happening and Kurt Angle was doing all he could to impress Mr. McMahon. Austin went to great lengths to impress Vince too, even going so far as to bringing him presents. One present he once bought him was a cowboy hat.
Jealous of the gift Austin got Vince, The Olympic Hero asked The Texas Rattlesnake for his gift, to which he revealed a tiny cowboy hat for Angle. When Angle unveiled the tiny hat on his head, it sent the live crowd into hysterics.
Yippee ki yay
Angle recently reflected on this hilarious moment on his Instagram since it took place 17 years ago this week.
He said: "17 years ago was the night that Stone Cold Steve Austin gave me a “mini” cowboy hat, and we became best friends. Well.... sort of. #yippeekiyay #realcowboys #itstrue"
Fans in the comments section were still in hysterics about the moment 17 years on, as it is one of the most hilarious moments in WWE history and helped to grow Angle into a fan-favourite amongst WWE fans.
One WWE fan said: "This moment actually made me a fan of yours, you really got to show off a whole new side with this story," while another added: "Your ability to adapt from the cowardly heel to the lovable funny heel during that time is what made me and many others love you. You looked like you enjoyed yourself."
This was one of only a few bright moments throughout the WCW Invasion angle, as it brought out the best of both Stone Cold and Angle and show WWE fans why both of them are two of the best superstars the company has ever had.
