Money in the Bank takes place this weekend at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois, and it will feature two Money in the Bank ladder matches, one men's and one women's.
Yet, one SmackDown superstar may already be ruled out from winning their respective ladder match as they will be having surgery at the end of the month. As a result, they have also been pulled from WWE's upcoming tour in Japan which takes place at the same time.
In the men's Money in the Bank match, SmackDown's The Miz, Rusev, Samoa Joe, and either Big E, Kofi Kingston, or Xavier Woods of The New Day will be taking part. For the women's Money in the Bank match, SmackDown will be represented by Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Lana, and Naomi.
However, the chances of Flair walking out of the event this Sunday as Ms. Money in the Bank may have been reduced this week as, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter via Sportskeeda, the former Women's Champion needs surgery on her ruptured implant.
The Queen has been dealing with the ruptured implant for several months now, since before WrestleMania 34 in fact, but now she will be having the required surgery at the end of the month.
In turn, this also means she will not be travelling to Japan for WWE's upcoming tour in the region on June 29 and June 30. She's held off doing the surgery until then because she didn't want to miss out on facing Asuka at WrestleMania, nor did she want to miss the women's Money in the Bank ladder match.
Charlotte's recovery time is only expected to be around a month, which could affect WWE's plans for her at Money in the Bank this Sunday. She could still go on to win the Money in the Bank contract and wait until SummerSlam to cash in, but we'll just have to wait and see on that.
As a result of her surgery plans, The Queen is the fourth favourite to win the women's Money in the Bank match this weekend behind Monday Night Raw's participants Natalya, Alexa Bliss, and Sasha Banks. Ember Moon is the fifth favourite to win, while Lynch, Lana, and Naomi are below Moon in that order.
