Antoine Griezmann is staying at Atletico Madrid. After months of rumours and an embarrassing 30-minute documentary detailing his thought process, the Frenchman announced his decision on Thursday night.Barcelona will, of course, not be overly happy that their number one transfer target has decided to reject them, particularly during a World Cup year. The time and resources they have put into their Griezmann chase have gone to waste, but it was the actions of certain Barca players on social media that are more concerning. Before Griezmann's video aired on French TV, both Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti engaged in a Twitter exchange. You can see below.

Looks like a friendly bit of banter about 'popcorn' ahead of the video, but here's where it gets weird.

Shortly after the decision from Griezmann was final and the whole world knew he was staying in Madrid, Pique took to Twitter again.

And this time, he had all football fans confused.

Translated, it reads: "Another way to see the footballer's life and his doubts to make the most important decision of his career. Thanks to the team @Kosmos_Studios and especially @AntoGriezmann for these last few weeks. You decided to stay in the @Atleti and I hope you go great this season!"

Not how you'd expect a Barca player to react, but there is a reason why Pique was so understanding towards Griezmann.

That's because he actually owns the company that shot the video!

So there you have it, weirdness explained, with Umtiti and Pique probably not the most popular players with the Barca board given the fact they were well aware of the Griezmann situation.

In fact, Sport journalist Albert Roge tweeted after the announcement that he believed the actions of the pair were a clear shot at Josep Bartomeu.

Translated, it reads: "The declarations of Jordi Alba and Busquets against Bartomeu for supporting Argentina in the World Cup and the laughter of Umtiti and pique with the rejection of Griezmann to Barça. It seems that the players begin to declare war on Bartomeu and the directive."

Pique then tweeted an even more bizarre message towards the end of the night and we're still not sure what it means.

Translated, it reads: "And remember one thing. There will be people who will criticize you, because everything new can generate rejection. But the most important reflection that leaves the #LaDecisión is that sometimes, not everything you sell is true. Good night."

Something is not quite right in Barcelona...
