Rangers manager Steven Gerrard recently completed the loan signing of Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria.

The new Rangers boss - who has no previous experience in senior football management - has already secured five new signings since taking charge in May.

There is plenty of excitement building at Ibrox with 'Gers hoping to end their record-breaking seven-year barren spell.

Ejaria, 20, spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan at Sunderland and make 11 appearances for the Black Cats.

The former Arsenal academy player joined Liverpool in 2014 and recently signed a new long-term deal on Merseyside.

Ejaria is already an England U21 international and will hope to impress Jurgen Klopp with his performances north of the border.

His former coach at Liverpool had an important message to share with the supporters regarding the 20-year-old winger.

Gerrard message for fans

The 38-year-old coach was once a youngster at Liverpool and has encouraged the Rangers supporters to be patient with the talented youngster.

Gerrard believes Ejaria "can excite the fans" - but has suggested that it will take time for the loan signing to adapt.

“With Ovie, I think it’s important we the crowd give him a bit of time to come up and adapt to the surroundings," said Gerrard to Rangers official website.

"He will be coming up alone without his family, and he will be joining us in Spain.

“I think with time, and we will obviously work him in at the right time and the right speed, but in terms of talent, in terms of someone who can get a fan on the edge of their seat and in terms of someone who has got tonnes of ability just waiting to admire, we feel he is ready to burst.

“But, he will have to be managed and put in at the right time, but he is one I am confident can excite the fans here and I know the fans want exciting players to watch.”

Spoken like a true manager.

Ejaria - who is hoping to shine in Scotland - is ultimately hoping to become part of Klopp's first team plans at Anfield.

"I really want to be a regular at Liverpool football club, a massive club, so that's my aim," said the new Rangers signing.

"I'm just going to keep working hard and see where that takes me."
