Since entering the NFL in 2014, to say Martavis Bryant has had quite a rocky run is an understatement.

The wide receiver was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers as a fourth-round pick but really struggled to get his career off the ground.

At first, that was down to injury, as Bryant was unavailable for the first six games of the 2014 season after suffering a mild A/C sprain.

In fact, it wasn't until week 10 of that year that he finally started his first game - but it did look like the rookie was showing a lot of potential - and possibly working his way to becoming a regular starter.

SUSPENSION PROBLEMS

However, Bryant has caused a lot of controversy in more recent seasons - by picking up bans in 2015 and 2016 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

He was suspended for the first four games of the Steelers 2015 season and then a year later, Bryant was handed another suspension that was to last for the whole of the 2016 season.

That second, huge ban came after he repeatedly violated the league's policy on substance abuse.

The wide receiver was cleared to return in 2017 - and began the year working as a starter alongside Antonio Brown, but his problems off the field continued.

VOICING HIS CONCERN

Despite a solid start to the regular season, Byrant began voicing his frustration over his role in the Steelers offense.

He also skipped mandatory team meetings and in October, began publically telling the media he wanted to be traded away from the team.

Bryant was originally demoted to the scout team and replaced by JuJu Smith-Schuster - but was soon promoted back to the first team in November.

However, he did finally get his wish to be traded granted in April - and has joined the Oakland Raiders ahead of the 2018 season.

FACING ANOTHER MASSIVE BAN?

Arguably, Oakland got a good deal for Bryant - by trading him for a 2018 3rd round draft pick. But unfortunately for them, he comes with a lot of baggage.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Raiders fear that he might be hit by more discipline from the NFL.

The report suggests that multiple team officials declined to comment over Bryant's issue - but that there is a strong feeling of internal uneasiness around the situation.

As there has been no final word as yet - the Raiders will be made to sweat over the league's decision.

But one thing is almost certain though - if Byrant violates the policy one more time - he will likely be hit with a massive ban that will last at least a year, but likely even longer.
