Fans of the Chicago Bears have not had much to shout about over the last five years. In fact, the last time the team finished with a winning record in the NFC North was back in 2012 - but even their 10-6 season was not enough to take them to the playoffs. The last time Chicago actually reached the postseason was in 2010. But more recently, since 2013, they've finished each season with more losses than wins.

PROBLEMS AT SOLDIER FIELD

Some of the problems that the Bears faced may have been down to general manager John Fox.

He took over in January 2015 and actually exceeded expectations in his first season, when he took the team to a 6-10 finish.

However, in 2016, Chicago appeared to be going backward and ended the season with a franchise record worst finish of the modern era, going 3-13.

That year, injuries could have been blamed for the poor finish, with both starting and back up quarterbacks, Jay Cutler and Brian Hoyer, suffering season-ending problems.

Neither man returned to play next year - as newly signed QB Mike Glennon led the Bears to another poor 5-11 finish - and Fox was fired three years after taking over as GM.

A NEW ERA AND A NEW LOOK

Fox has since been replaced by Matt Nagy, who takes over after joining from the Kansas City Chiefs, where he worked as the team's offensive coordinator.

With a new general manager, Chicago are looking to usher in a new era for the franchise. And their latest decision proves that they're going to make at least one change.

They were set to unveil their new alternate jerseys on Friday, but fans have been given an early glimpse - as the images were leaked a day earlier.

BACK TO ORANGE

The picture above confirms that the Bears will return to wearing orange uniforms next season - which is something they haven't done since 2011. And fans are pretty excited to see it.

After sporting the colour as part of their alternate kit for six seasons prior to 2011, they returned to wearing the 1940s throwbacks as the third jersey in more recent times.

But by bringing back the orange, the Bears will be hoping to find similar success to what they were having when they last played in orange.

During that era, they finished the 2006 season 13-3, the 2008 season 9-7 and the 2010 season 11-5.

A finish like that in 2018 will certainly be a huge improvement on recent years - and it may all start with their new kits.
