Since announcing his in-ring return back in March, many WWE fans have argued that Daniel Bryan has been a little underused.

Yes - he did have a match at WrestleMania, but it was as part of a tag team, where he paired with Shane McMahon against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Of course, it's likely that WWE didn't want to push him too far during his first match in almost three years - and that's understandable.

However, putting him against Big Cass as his first singles feud was not.

A POOR DECISION

Fans are not all that interested in the Bryan vs Cass storyline - and it seems odd that WWE would put The Beard in one that's quite honestly - very boring.

The decision becomes even stranger when you think about the fact that Bryan's future with the company is still up in the air.

It's commonly known that his contract with WWE is set to expire on September 1. But it's not yet known if he's going to sign a new deal, or leave and wrestle elsewhere.

UPDATE ON BRYAN'S SITUATION

WWE fans will be desperate for him to stay, but the latest news on Bryan's situation may not fill them with much confidence.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, things have been very quiet backstage - and Bryan's future is still uncertain.

"I have not heard that Daniel Bryan has come to a new deal with WWE but its possible that he has," Johnson said, per NoDQ.

"If he has, no one has told me that. It's also possible that his deal is going to expire on September 1st."

Johnson did also explain that the two sides have a while yet to work things out - but if you're DB, you're following the money.

"They got some time to work it out. I think if you're Daniel Bryan. you do whatever is going to make you the most money."

BUILDING TOWARDS A MASSIVE SUMMERSLAM FEUD

Interestingly, it's been noted that WWE could be building towards a massive feud at SummerSlam, between Bryan and one of his biggest rivals.

When asked about the possibility of Bryan vs The Miz, Brad Shepherd of BodySlam.net revealed it's more than likely.

"I don't know if it's going to be for the belt but that does seem to be the feud they're building toward for the SummerSlam timeframe," he said, per NoDQ.

What's odd, is that Shepherd says he doesn't know if that fight at SummerSlam would be "for the belt". Currently, neither men hold a title in WWE.

But with The Miz in Sunday's Money in the Bank match - could he win the contract and cash in for the WWE title, then put it on the line against Bryan at SummerSlam? Because that, would be epic.
