Wales group too tough to call

John Toshack believes it will be tough to predict the outcome of Wales' Euro 2012 qualifying group.

Wales play their final friendly - against Luxembourg in Llanelli on Wednesday - before facing opening group opponents Montenegro early next month. The five-team pool also includes England, Switzerland and Bulgaria, with Wales the lowest-seeded nation.

Wales manager Toshack said: "If you look at the group, I think we are the lowest seeded of the five teams. I don't think you will find too many fifth-seeded teams qualifying from their groups.

"But looking at our group, I feel that if we get a little more good fortune, I think we are in the mix, I really do. I don't think there is a great deal to choose."

He added: "I think it will be hard to forecast who finishes first, second, third, fourth and fifth in our group."

Wales should encounter few problems brushing aside Luxembourg at Parc-y-Scarlets, where home skipper Craig Bellamy will make his first international appearance of 2010.

And the Manchester City striker is eager for 90 minutes' competitive action after being largely frozen out during pre-season at Eastlands.

"Physically, I feel probably the best I have ever felt," said Bellamy. "The only problem I've had is I haven't played pre-season. I want to play the full 90 minutes against Luxembourg - I am just desperate to play football."

Bellamy has yet to discover whether or not he will make City's 25-man squad for the season.

"Whatever people think of me, I find myself in a situation I find hard to get my head around," he added. "I feel strongly that I can offer something at the club. But if I don't get in the 25-man squad, I don't know what I will do.

"I might finish, full stop, or look at every option I get. This game is as ruthless as any, and I sort of feel I am not going to be part of it (at Manchester City) - I can see it from a distance. I find that very difficult to take because I really enjoy playing for Manchester City. I think I have shown that with my commitment this year."
