The reality about WWE's live events is that the cards are always subject to change. The company can advertise some huge matches and claim that some big-name stars are going to appear, but the small disclaimer that's always featured suggests that fans might get exactly what has been advertised.

LIVE EVENT

We continue to see that regularly, primarily focusing on which stars are labelled as champions, and this often leads the fans to believe that the outcome of pay-per-view matches have been ruined.

Still, seeing the WWE make some significant last-minute changes means it's understandable when the fans are upset that they didn't get to see the stars or matches they paid to see, and that's precisely what happened at a recent house show in Peoria, Illinois on Friday night.

According to several sources, WWE decided to pull the women from the live event completely, meaning none of them featured.

Other notable stars that missed out included Braun Strowman and AJ Styles - who hasn't been booked for events in some time.

NO FEMALE ATHLETES

Considering the event featured eight matches in total, fans have rightfully been questioning the strange decision as to why WWE decided not to have any women featuring on the show. It makes sense, especially since some of them are huge names and big attractions that fans have paid to see in action with both Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss both originally advertised to be in action.

However, according to WrestlingNews.co, there's a very good reason why the WWE did this and fans might forgive them for it.

The source has claimed that the WWE had given the female athletes a couple of additional days off, this was so they had more time to prepare for Sunday's Money in the Bank pay-per-view. This also ensures that they have time to work out some intricate ladder spots to make their ladder match a lot better with some memorable moments.

Naturally, there is a lot more attention on the women's matches which is fantastic, so it's only right that they're able to showcase their talents by going the extra mile to make their ladder match one which the fans are talking about.

If there aren't any big spots, then the ladder match stipulation would be useless, and the match would instantly be forgotten about.

While the frustration from the fans in Illinois is understandable, it's clear that the bigger picture is a lot more critical to the company with the focus undoubtedly going on Sunday's Money in the Bank event.
