Xherdan Shaqiri and Switzerland are taking on Brazil in their opening World Cup match on Sunday night.The Swiss midfielder is expected to leave Stoke City this summer after the Potters were relegated to the Championship.Shaqiri, 26, reportedly has a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for around £12m this summer."It is no secret that I will leave the club," Shaqiri told Aargauer Zeitung in May."I think the [English] league is perfect for me. I would love to stay in England but I don't want to rule anything out. It's the best league with the best players."Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the former Inter Milan star over the last few weeks.Available at a cut-price, Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants to sign Shaqiri to bolster his attacking options.

Speaking minutes before Switzerland v Brazil on ITV Sport, Gary Neville offered his brutal assessment of the skilful winger.

Shaqiri was Stoke's top scorer last season but the retired Man United defender is far from convinced by him.

"I'm not a fan of Shaqiri, to be honest with you" said Neville on ITV.

"He distanced himself from his teammates at Stoke. They were unprofessional last season and he epitomises it.

"He could score the goal of the tournament but he could also be there for three matches and do nothing but amble and wobble around.

"Players like that I can't have, to be honest with you. I struggle with it."

Neville did not hold back!

Liverpool fans may disagree with the 43-year-old Mancunian but he's widely regarded as one of the best pundits in England - so his opinion should definitely be taken on board.
