Although one week has passed since his devastating loss, CM Punk is still in the headlines after his defeat against Mike Jackson at UFC 225.

Naturally, wrestling fans were tuning in to see how much the former WWE Champion had progressed since his disastrous first outing inside of the Octagon, and their questions were answered as he went the full three rounds against an opponent equally as inexperienced as him.

LOSS

Evidently, everyone wants to have their say on the fight and while being in WWE might cause some stars to remain quiet on the matter, it hasn't stopped Edge and Christian from discussing it on their podcast, E&C's Pod of Awesomeness.

Despite Punk coming in for a lit of criticism, the legendary duo has praised Punk for his efforts and explained just why it was never going to work out in the UFC.

They also claimed that considering it was Punk's dream, he can be regarded as a winner as he was able to fight twice inside of the Octagon.

Christian stated: "Yeah, yeah. I mean it’s tough, you got to give the guy props for - obviously he had a tough first fight and then but it’s the same thing you know it’s, he’s not a young guy, and you’re at a young man’s game.

"A lot of these guys now have been training for these things since they were young and not just in one discipline, all the disciplines and it’s hard to play catch-up at the highest level. That’s like same as if someone was gonna come to WWE, get thrown into a main event match and be like, 'Hey go out there and call a 20, 25 30 minute main event match,' you can’t do it."

WINNER

Edge then added: "Yeah, and I know people can say Ronda Rousey, I don’t think that match was called out there just so everybody knows."

Christian responded: "Yes, but I’m saying like - and also surrounded with you know to the very best to ever do it, but that’s a different story. It’s a hard thing to make up for, I give him props because obviously, he has a lot of heart because he stood in there and he stood in there for the three rounds.

"And there’s no denying he’s a tough guy. Just you know to me it’s, it has to be one of those things where you gotta look at it like it’s a young man’s game."

"Yeah, and I mean being able to take a punch tough and being able to actually fight tough for two different things," Edge claimed. "So yeah, it’s starting late and like you said you got kids like Sage Northcutt who have been training since they could.

"It’s a tough thing, there’s not - it also shows what a freak [Brock] Lesnar is and also you know, he has the amateur wrestling background, so he has a base to build off of and if you don’t have that base to build off of, you know, you just like it and thought it was cool, well that’s a tough hurdle to overcome at that age.

"But man, to get in there and kind of throw that all in the line and let’s face it, to know you’re gonna be ridiculed and to be made fun of and to be well however you want to do it and just go, you know what I’m gonna do it anyway because I want to do it. You gotta go well good for you then."

Christian finally added: "Yeah tip of the hat man, I mean he did something that not a lot of people would do and you know he had the balls to do it, and it was considered a win because he wanted to do it and he did it twice."

Considering Punk also received a huge paycheck for it, he can definitely go home and think he's a winner.
