Ever since Anthony Joshua registered an impressive win over Joseph Parker in late March this year, the boxing fraternity has been speculating about the highly anticipated clash against Deontay Wilder at some point in 2018.
Nearly three months have passed from then, but we are still in the dark if the contest will come to fruition, and the latest development has cast more doubt on the unification fight happening this term.
News from both camps in recent months stated that negotiations and discussions are in progress to materialise the fight with both boxers open to the prospect of facing each other.
Meanwhile, Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn earlier this month issued a deadline for Wilder & co. to sign on the dotted line within the next two weeks or else they would lose out as AJ is also considering Russian star Alexander Povetkin as an alternative.
Apart from regular feeds from the insiders, the boxing faithful has been keeping a close eye on the social media platforms for updates regarding the progress, and Wilder’s post on Saturday put further shadow on a possible agreement with Joshua.
The WBC champion posted a short video where two men are seen breaking into incessant laughter as the subtitles rolled on.
He branded his British counterpart ‘a pussycat’, and going by the clip, it can be assumed that Wilder’s representatives have made Joshua a $50m offer, while Hearn came up with excuses after excuses, implying they are the ones not willing to fight the American ace.

Last Friday was the date when it was expected that the Bronze Bomber’s advisor Shelly Finkel would have the contract papers in hand for Wilder to sign, but we're now at Monday and have no more indication on the proposed super fight.
Hearn has insisted in the past that a September bout with Povetkin is on the cards with Wilder’s unification bout potentially becoming a reality next year.
Only time will tell if fans across the globe will be able to witness the Joshua v Wilder mega money contest in the upcoming months, or whether they'll have to remain patient till early 2019 for it to happen.
